About Us

Kitsune Dojo is an inclusive sports club that teaches traditional Okinawan karate in the Goju-Ryu style, according to the syllabus of the international organization TOGKF. We are an open community where people with a passion for martial arts come together. We work with physically or mentally disadvantaged athletes and help them reach their full potential.

We organize regular karate training and self-defense courses. Our self-defense courses are free of charge for clients of crisis centers, youth from orphanages and senior citizens.

We are proud members of the SUOKK, TOGKF and IKG Slovakia

Slovak Union of Okinawan Karate and Kobudo (SUOKK) is an organization of sports clubs whose main goal is to spread traditional Okinawan Karate and Kobudo across Slovakia. SUOKK offers detailed training plans tailored for all ages, led by experienced and qualified instructors who not only know WHAT and HOW to train, but most importantly understand WHY they are doing it. For the little ones, children ages 4-6, we have a "Pee Wee" program with a special grading system and testing schedule. For elementary school students, ages 6-12, there is a junior system where kids are introduced to traditional Karate and follow their own exam regulations. From the age of 13, practitioners progress to the senior levels where they progress according to their ability and effort during training sessions. Martial arts training is a lifelong journey, so we also have a program for adult and senior members who want to learn self-defense, gain physical and mental fitness, or simply relax and unwind after a long day at the office. Kitsune Dojo is the only club in SUOKK that has a para-karate program.

Traditional Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate Do Federation (TOGKF) is an international organization dedicated to the teaching of traditional Goju-Ryu Karate. Its founder and chief instructor is Morio Higaonna Shuseki Shihan (10th Dan Goju-Ryu Karate). The headquarters of the organization is located in Naha, Okinawa. The TOGKF is the guardian of Traditional Okinawa Goju Ryu as it was passed to Higaonna Sensei, and as such, we see it not as a sport, but as a whole way of life. The goal is to enrich every aspect of who you are. In January 2023 the Slovak Union of Okinawan Karate and Kobudo became an official member and representative of the TOGKF in Slovakia. The name of the Slovak branch of the organization is TOGKF Slovakia and Sensei Igor Vakoš (5th Dan Goju-Ryu Karate) was appointed as its chief instructor.

I-Karate Global – Inclusive Karate Federation (IKG) is a global organization that unites inclusive karate clubs from around the world. Dedicated to making karate accessible to everyone, the IKG strives to break down barriers, ensuring that individuals of all physical and mental abilities can participate. To achieve this, the federation develops tailored training programs designed to meet the unique needs of each practitioner, allowing everyone to engage in karate at their own pace and skill level. Additionally, the IKG organizes regular tournaments that provide a platform for fair and inclusive competition, empowering individuals with disabilities to experience the thrill of achievement and the joy of success. We are honored that our dojo has been entrusted with leading the Slovak branch of the Inclusive Karate Federation, a responsibility we hold with great pride and commitment.

Our Mission

Violence is a multifaceted issue that impacts everyone in society. We all have the fundamental right to protect ourselves and those we care about. That’s why we believe access to basic self-defense skills should be available to everybody. Our training programs and courses are thoughtfully designed to be inclusive, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities, including those with disabilities. We take a comprehensive approach to self-defense, going beyond physical techniques to address the broader aspects of personal safety. This includes teaching violence prevention, situational awareness, verbal de-escalation, and conflict resolution strategies. In both our karate training and self-defense classes, we emphasize not only physical techniques but also activities that foster assertiveness, self-confidence, and mental resilience. Our goal is to empower individuals to navigate challenging situations with confidence and composure.
